ABOUT JENNY NG

She used to be Jenny, the shy girl.

The quiet girl who was once humiliated at a school assembly.

Whose dad lost his business during a recession.

And her form teacher demanded she paid up her overdue school fees.

Meekly, she nodded her head.

She carried that memory with her.

After A levels, she worked in a factory seven days a week.

Her job was to scan and file 585, 657 documents.

She only had a scanner and a computer with no Internet.

She got bored.

She started writing her journal while the scanner did its work.

Writing distracted her.

She completed her job in six months.

She checked her bank statement and saw $10,125.35.

She read her journal and saw love.

She got into university.

While her friends had fun, she worked part-time.

She was a cashier, a tutor and a wine promoter, all at the same time.

Bored as usual, she studied product labels and promotional banners.

She started dabbling with ideas and words again, in her heart.

She graduated.

The day before her tuition fees loan was due, she paid it off in full.

She laughed at the $0.57 left on the bank statement.

Only she knew how much she had earned over the years.

The paper certificate was just a means to find her life and love.

She kissed her business degree goodbye.

And became Jenny, the Writer, the Filmmaker, and the Creative Dabbler.

All at the same time.

JENNY'S BRIEF HISTORY

2014 - Present:

As Myself <Creative Dabbler>

Why a Creative Dabbler? Because I'm constantly dabbling with ideas and making them work. As someone who thinks, writes and makes films with my heart, I see myself working on projects that mean something to society - especially in giving voices to the unheard ones.

In 2014, I pitched an idea to the Singapore Memory Project and started "Seeing Singapore". It was a year-long project which eventually led to a 20-min short film and a 2-week exhibition that artistically documents the memories of the visually impaired.

I crave to do more.

2009 - Present:

Freeflow Productions <Head Writer/ Film Director>

Here, I found my meaning in life: write with my heart and write with a purpose. When I joined, I was the first and only writer. By God's grace, I discovered the secret to winning pitches and wooing results. I started leading a team of writers in 2011 and lately, started dabbling with film directing.

Freeflow started participating in awards only in 2013. The good news is, we won most of it. Two awards that I am involved as a creative lead and writer include The Laurels: Viewers' Choice and Creative Circle Awards.
